SIBF Brings Together Passionate Readers on November 1st

 

 

The thirty sixth Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) will be launched at Expo Centre Sharjah on November 1st, with the participation of hundreds of publishers and writers from various countries presenting a series of on-going events, activities, and symposiums over a period of eleven days.

Worth mentioning, Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) has named UK as the Guest of Honour of the 36th edition. The book fair activities will hereby include programs which reflect and represent the British culture, literature, intellect, and art.

Ahmed Al-Ameri, SBA Chairman said that Sharjah has established its place as an incubator for literature, culture, and science, inspired by the vision of HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al-Qassimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. H.H. Al-Qassimi’s vision maps out a comprehensive cultural and intellectual advancement.

 Al-Ameri added that SIBF has grown throughout the past /35/ years to be a key pillar of our intellectual advancement. It is now the third largest book fair in the world attracting thousands of publishers and writers, and millions of visitors from all over the world.

Al-Ameri proudly talked about Sharjah’s most recent accomplishment of being named by UNESCO as “World Book Capital 2019”.

He concluded by emphasizing that the upcoming book fair will welcome an elite group of writers, publishers, artists from various countries and promising us of a rich intellectual program which will discuss different literary genres, arts, and fields of knowledge. In addition, the book fair will dedicate a spacious area this year for children to go in line with SIBF vision of achieving a knowledgeable society and visionary insightful generations.

Prior to launching SIBF, the 7th Professional Program for Publishers will be held on October 30th and 31st with the participation of more than /250/ publishers and copyrights professionals.

Moreover, the 4th annual Library Conference will be held in collaboration with American Library Association alongside SIBF on November 7th, 8th, and 9th.
